Former president John Dramani Mahama said that recently, God has been showing up to encourage him.
He claims that God has given him a vision of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) winning the general elections in 2024.
He claims that God declared it to be God's will and that God has granted him the authority to serve as President in 2024.
Speaking to NDC delegates on Tuesday, April 11, in Okere, in the Eastern Region, Mr. Mahama made the proclamation that "By God's grace, we have the experience; we didn't buy it in the store, we didn't learn it in school; it is God who gave us the opportunity to gather that experience." Mr. Mahama is on a three-day campaign tour of the eastern region.
"Don't worry about what some people are saying," he said. "I go to church, and when I pray, God speaks to me, and God has said that now is the time for the NDC, and he has given us authority. If God chooses, no one can change it. Let us continue to pray and trust that what has been arranged will come to pass.
He also urged every NDC candidate for a seat in the House of Representatives to run a respectable campaign.
"Let's avoid using insults because we are a single family, a single party, and we all want power."
"Let's support whoever is chosen as a parliamentary candidate, and you'll have our support when the time comes."
Not only do we have MPs, but we also have board chairs, ambassadors, DCEs, and many more appointments, so even if you don't run for office as an MP, you will be appointed.
Therefore, he continued, "let's keep the campaign civil, and when one candidate emerges, let's all support that candidate and let the party win."
Regarding employment opportunities for party members, he informed them that if their party wins the election, several appointments would need to be made, including those for board chairmanships, District Chief Executive (DCE) positions, and ambassador positions, from which future unsuccessful candidates for the House of Representatives could benefit.
Let's avoid using insults, he urged, as we are all members of the same family, belong to the same party, and seek the same thing: power.
