Bukayo Saka admitted his Arsenal team-mates were "really disappointed" after the 2-2 draw against Liverpool but claimed the title race was still "in our hands" ahead of a "huge" showdown with Manchester City.

Arsenal took a two-goal lead at Anfield on Sunday thanks to a Gabriel Martinelli penalty kick and a Gabriel Jesus header.

But Mikel Arteta's men, who were trying to win the Premier League for the first time since 2004, had to split points after Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino scored at the end of each half.

Things could have been even worse for the Gunners, who were relieved to see Salah hit wide from the spot and an inspired Aaron Ramsdale turned down Darwin Nunez and Ibrahima Konate.

Arsenal have not won a game at Anfield in more than 10 years and although Liverpool dominated the second half, Saka admitted he was not "happy" with the draw. "The boys were really frustrated after the game because we all wanted to win," Saka told Arsenal's official website. "But we can't change that, so we have to focus on Sunday's game against West Ham.

"It's really important - we all know it - so we'll try to get ready for the game to try our best and take the three points.

"I'm not going to sit here and tell you I'm happy with one point [against Liverpool]. We wanted to go out and get all three points so there's a little bit of disappointment in me that we didn't do that. . "It's a stadium I've never won, so I thought it would be the best opportunity and the best time to do it, but we weren't able to do it, it was real. what a pity."

An exciting 2-2 draw leaves Arsenal six points ahead of Manchester City with eight games remaining.

Pep Guardiola's side, which have won four of the last five league titles, will overtake Arsenal if they go hand in hand and beat the Gunners at home on April 26.

British star Saka said:

“As players, we really want to do this. We know it's all in our hands and we have to keep playing game after game.

"If we win these last eight games and get a good result, the title could be ours, so we have to focus." It's been a long season and we have to be consistent throughout, that's what we're going to try to do.

"I wouldn't say [the game against Man City] is the final, but maybe the semi-final because it's huge and very important because both teams are fighting at the top. It's really close so here it is. It's going to be a big game."

Saka has been one of the stars of the Premier League this season, scoring 12 goals and providing 10 assists in 30 appearances.

The 21-year-old hopes to continue his impressive form for the rest of the campaign and believes he has benefited from playing under former Gunners midfielder Arteta.

"I've learned a lot and I'm on the right track, so I'm happy," he added. “I just hope that at the end of the season these goals and assists will be very important and they will mean a lot to the team.

'[Arteta] taught me so much, and I have to thank him for the way I've grown, because it's largely because of what he's done for me.

"You have to be ready for whatever comes, and that's one thing I've tried to do - be ready for every moment and try to embrace it."
