The family of Formula 1 driver Lance Stroll can buy more than half of the Premier League teams at once if they want.

Stroll, who races for Silverstone-based Aston Martin, has never been above 11th in the drivers' standings, but he is leading in financial strength.

This is because his father, Lawrence, is the executive chairman of the Aston Martin F1 team.

In 2018, the 63-year-old businessman led a consortium of investors and acquired the Force India team for £90 million plus £15 million of their debt.

Two years later, after leading a £182 million investment, he was appointed executive chairman of the Aston Martin F1 team. Stroll was named team driver by his father, who has a reported net worth of £3.6 billion, which Stroll could inherit in the future.

While they are happy with their investment in F1, the Stroll family could easily invest in Premier League clubs if they wanted to.

According to Sportico, the total value of Premier League clubs currently stands at £24.17 billion.

It's perhaps no surprise that much of that lucrative money is dominated by the traditional top six teams.

Manchester United are the most expensive, worth £4.8 billion. Excluding the value of the top six clubs, plus the next most expensive club West Ham, the remaining 13 clubs have a combined value of £3.5 billion.

That means Stroll and his family will have plenty of cash if they want to buy all 13 teams at once.

While United are the most expensive club in the Premier League, Bournemouth are the cheapest at just £115m.

Despite being able to afford it, it seems that the father and son duo Stroll is too busy with the F1 race at the moment.

Aston Martin has enjoyed a brilliant start to the 2023 season, with Stroll teammate Fernando Alonso scoring three consecutive finishes in third place. On the other hand, Stroll has some work to do to catch up with Alonso after finishing sixth and fourth in Bahrain and Australia respectively, while his race in Saudi Arabia ended early.

Stroll is currently sixth overall, 25 points behind third-placed Alonso. F1 will return at the end of the month with the Azerbaijan Grand Prix taking place on April 30 in Baku.
