Liverpool has gone through exhilarating highs and shattering lows in a season that has occasionally held out great promise but delivered little.

Jurgen Klopp rejected the proposal. Following the 7-0 thrashing of Manchester United, Liverpool began to think outside of their station.

Liverpool has gone five games without a victory since that stunning thrashing of their fierce rivals on March 5, and they have dropped 12 points behind the fourth-placed Red Devils.

Liverpool will attempt to prevent Leeds United from suffering home and away league defeats in the same season on Monday. This hasn't happened since the 2000–01 season.

This season, Liverpool has 13 points from 15 road visits but only 0.87 points per game on the road in the Premier League. Since the first season of the Premier League in 1992–1993, when they registered a 0.76 average and earned 16 points from 21 away games, they haven't had a season with a worse average.

But everything changed when Liverpool defeated Erik ten Hag's United at Anfield, handing the guests the joint-heaviest defeat in competitive history.

After going 7-0, Klopp stated on Friday, "I'm not sure whether you can really learn how to deal with that."

"It's more about your own expectations of yourself. Better would be five straight victories by a score of 2-0."

Liverpool, who also defeated Bournemouth 9-0 this year, is currently in third place in the table, one point ahead of Brentford and behind Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion.

"This season has been quite odd. Despite the two highest results in our history, we can certainly agree that this is not our best season. Extremely odd," Klopp continued.

"Therefore it proves, why can't they do that every week if they can do that once? It's an excellent question, and the solution has to be developed.

"While not on purpose, the response to the 7-0 victory arguably could have been better. We didn't believe we were the best simply because we defeated United with such an absurd outcome. The issue is that we were inconsistent this season, which is why things transpired."
