Former Manchester United midfielders Paul Scholes and Owen Hargreaves have criticized Europa League referee Felix Zwayer for his decision to show Bruno Fernandes the yellow card against Sevilla.
The Portugal international was booked after Nemanja Gudelj's shot hit his arm when the midfielder was 2 meters away from him.
For former Reds stars Scholes and Hargreaves, it was a tough decision that sidelined the Portugal international for the second leg in Spain in a week's time.
Scholes was particularly angry with the referee after the game when he told BT Sport: “It's ridiculous… I thought the referee was incompetent all night.
"With no signs of fouling, he can't wait to get a yellow card."
Hargreaves added:
"It was a ridiculous decision by the referee. What does Bruno have to do? That's not a yellow card at all.
