Despite Pep Guardiola's decision to substitute the striker early in several games, Erling Haaland has scored 45 goals for Manchester City this season.
Erling Haaland has been kept in shape by Manchester City with "amazing" success, according to Pep Guardiola, who also defends his sporadic early withdrawals of the striker.
Although only starting 21 Bundesliga games in his final season with Borussia Dortmund, Haaland scored 22 goals despite suffering multiple ailments throughout his productive two-year stay.
Haaland has played 2,187 more Premier League minutes for City this season (2,187) than Ederson (2,610) or Rodri (2,407), as Guardiola's team seeks its sixth championship in six years.
In his first Premier League season, Haaland has scored an average of once every 72.9 minutes, and Guardiola credits a number of medical specialists at City for ensuring his sustained availability.
"I have no idea what he did in Dortmund, but our amazing doctors and physios take care of him around-the-clock. Every minute of every day, they are in behind of him "explained Guardiola.
"I don't know what the other clubs do, but it's hard to comprehend why you would spend a lot of money [on players] and then let them go.
"We must take care of them with nutrition, rest, sleep, and food because of the tough schedule of games every three to four days.
"There is statistics on the training's duration in terms of minutes. They may have a maximum training time of 10 or 15 minutes."
Guardiola has come under fire for benching Haaland early in several games, most notably after the Norwegian scored five goals on his own within the first 57 minutes of a 7-0 victory over RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
The City manager insists that such choices were made with the player's condition in mind and thinks they were appropriate.
"Many question why he was substituted against Leipzig after scoring all the goals. But after the Burnley game, he sustained an injury "explained Guardiola.
