As soon as Tottenham Hotspur names a new head coach, 90min knows that Harry Kane and the club are willing to reevaluate contract talks.

The England captain has just over a year left on his current contract and has not yet reached an agreement regarding an extension. He is a transfer target for both Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

Kane was prepared to extend his stay at Spurs and was content working under Antonio Conte, according to 90min in May 2022, but a lot has changed in the world of football since then.

Tottenham's poor performance this season relative to expectations and Bayern Munich's intense interest both contributed to Conte's departure as Tottenham's head coach last month.

It was anticipated that Conte wouldn't coach Tottenham in 2023–24, and 90min reported in March that the club's administration was willing to include Kane in the selection of a new head coach as part of their efforts to persuade him to stay.

While Tottenham has long been confident that their all-time leading scorer will remain in north London, they will not press him for a decision until a new head coach is in the dugout, according to 90min, who has learned that Kane will reevaluate his position once a permanent replacement for Conte has been appointed.

Spurs are considering hiring Burnley manager Vincent Kompany, although Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton and ex-Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann aren't yet sold on the idea.

The name of previous manager Mauricio Pochettino, who would be interested in taking the post but would prefer to wait until the summer to decide his own future, was widely sung by home supporters during Tottenham's 2-1 victory against Brighton last week.

Tottenham is also interested in Luis Enrique, who has spoken with Chelsea this month about their open position.

With their recent Champions League loss to Manchester City, Bayern Munich's need for a natural center forward has been highlighted, and Harry Kane remains the Bavarians' top striker target this summer.

While Kane wants to surpass Alan Shearer's all-time Premier League scoring record and is only 55 goals short of matching his total of 260, it is unclear whether a move abroad would put that record in jeopardy.
