Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has claimed he is unconcerned about the fact that the Gunners are no longer considered heavy favorites to win the Premier League championship.
The Arsenal are still in first place, but after their most recent 2-2 tie with Liverpool, their lead over Manchester City has shrunk to six points from eight.
Both teams are currently in control of their own destinies, with City only slightly benefiting from having played one fewer game than their opponents and hosting Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on April 26.
The oddsmakers at Opta put Arsenal's chances of winning the championship at 46.9%, compared to City's 53.1%, and the Gunners are no longer considered favorites, a status they first acquired back in gameweek 18.
Arteta claimed he had no problems when informed of the figures during Friday's press conference.
It was like this [City as favorites] when you asked [Opta] at the beginning of the season, he claimed. Hence, nothing has altered.
When asked if luck will be necessary for Arsenal to win the championship, Arteta argued that luck is a must for every side vying for a trophy.
In the race for the title, you need luck, he remarked. "That good fortune and what you anticipate happening. When it comes to inches, they sometimes have to go your way."
Pep Guardiola, the manager of City, expressed a similar lack of interest in his team's new status as favorites and acknowledged that success in their remaining match against Brighton is far from certain.
Guardiola stated, "We are actually six points behind." Nobody can promise that we will triumph in the matchup we have left with Brighton, the top team in the entire globe. Right now, no team plays better modern football anywhere in the globe.
"After that, Arsenal hosts. Everything cannot be guaranteed.
