Man City's latest transfer rumors amid speculation about Chelsea defender Levi Colwill

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City are rumored to be interested in Chelsea defender Levi Colwill

Manchester City have identified Chelsea defender Levi Colwill as a priority target ahead of the summer transfer window, according to reports.

The left-footed centre-back is currently on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion - the team are also said to want to keep the player permanently should his parent club decide to sell. The Evening Standard reports Colwill is also attracting interest from Liverpool, but City could turn to the defender if the sale of Aymeric Laporte is sanctioned at the end of this season.

Following Colwill's progress on the South Coast this season, the report adds that Chelsea are keen to start contract negotiations with the defender in the hope of persuading him to stay at Stamford Bridge. However, there is also the suggestion that there is a 'feeling' that Chelsea will have to part ways with a number of homegrown stars this summer in order to avoid breaking Financial Fair Play laws, which could open the door to opportunities. The festival moves to the summer for Colwill. Elsewhere, the Spanish publication SPORT reports that the signing of Barcelona's Ilkay Gundogan is complete. The City captain will become a free agent at the end of this season and will therefore be allowed to start negotiations with foreign clubs over a pre-contract agreement.

An offer of 12 million euros a year for two seasons plus a potential one-third is said to be being discussed at Camp Nou with Barca director Mateu Alemany and sports adviser Jordi Cruyff is said to have done. work in the deal 'for many months'.

It is claimed that the Barcelona duo met Ilkay Gundogan's father Ihan this week and a transfer is now 'very close to being done'. Ihan Gundogan also represents Andreas Christensen, who signed for the Camp Nou team last summer from Chelsea. READ NEXT:
