Florent Malouda feels that Mbappe should join Chelsea rather than Real Madrid
A former Blues star believes that Kylian Mbappe should leave Paris Saint-Germain for Premier League Chelsea despite Real Madrid's interest in the France captain.
The 24-year-old Mbappe is currently under contract with the Parisian team through the summer of 2024, but he has the option to extend his stay with the Ligue 1 leaders by another year this summer.
The striker, a 2018 World Cup champion and five-time champion of France's premier division, is reportedly of great interest to Real Madrid as well.
However, fellow Frenchman Florent Malouda, who played for Chelsea from 2007 to 2013, wants Mbappe to strongly consider returning to the west London club as his next stop.
Since the Premier League is the most competitive league in the world, hopefully we'll see him there.
There aren't many teams that can give him what he wants and that can develop around him, according to the statement. He is the captain of France, and he will likely seek a position of leadership at his next club, which could lead to issues.
Mbappe probably won't decide definitively on his club until the end of the current season.
Despite now languishing in 11th position in the Premier League, Chelsea has spent more than £600 million on rebuilding since Todd Boehly became owner last summer.
PSG, led by Mbappe, is now in first place in Ligue 1, while Real Madrid, the defending champions of the Champions League, is struggling to close the gap to Barcelona in LaLiga.
But thanks to a 2-0 victory over the Blues in the first leg, the white-clad squad from the Spanish capital has one foot in this season's Champions League semifinals.
Despite being eliminated from this year's competition by Bayern Munich, PSG still has their own goal of winning the Champions League as soon as feasible.
Amidst reports that PSG manager Christophe Galtier made racist remarks while leading his previous club Nice, the club is now in turmoil.
