No Chelsea player has provided more Premier League assists than Mykhailo Mudryk this season after playing a key role in the opening goal against Brighton on Saturday.

The 22-year-old winger, who joined the Blues from Shakhtar Donetsk in January for £88m, has been criticized by some fans following a goalless start in west London.

He is yet to score in 11 games for Chelsea since his highly anticipated transfer.

But despite a less impressive record in front of goal, Mudryk is currently the man with the most assists for Chelsea in the English top flight this season - a statistic that summarizes their creative woes.

After a positive start to the game, the Ukraine international sent in Conor Gallagher, whose shot went wide and Robert Sanchez netted Brighton. Mudryk is currently level with Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell, Enzo Fernandez, Marc Cucurella and Thiago Silva in the Premier League.

Here's how fans reacted to his efforts against Brighton.

One person said:

"Mudryk is cooking. If you don't see talent, it's up to you," while another commented:

"Mudryk's speed is really scary. He's definitely faster than Mbappe."

The third person wrote:

"Mudryk is the most obvious superstar signing I've seen, but our fanbase wants to judge him by seven appearances from the bench."

The fourth added:

"It was a lucky goal, but it didn't take away from Mudryk's ability to run and provide assists. Quality."

Ahead of Saturday's game, Brighton manager Robert De Zerbi said he hoped Frank Lampard would leave his former player Mudryk on the bench for the game at Stamford Bridge.

“Me and the staff have a special relationship [with Mudryk],” De Zerbi said at his pre-match press conference. “He was like a son to us.

"I hope he's on the bench and not playing but I love him. We hope the best for him... from the next game. "I think for Chelsea it's been a tough season, but it's still a great, great team. A season can go like this. For any young player, it's hard to do. adapted to a different country and a different style of football.

"Chelsea have a lot of great players and I think it's a normal situation for him. He has to adapt and understand that his life has changed but I think he's good and smart. He can become a top player."

De Zerbi added:

“Mudryk is a top player and I think it is difficult for him to start in another country, another team. "Everybody knows Chelsea's situation this year, it's very difficult, especially for a young player, a young lad. But he has the quality to be a star in the Premier League."
