As Anthony Martial's attitude is described, Erik ten Hag talks about being the captain of Manchester United
With the central defender ready to reclaim the captain's armband against Nottingham Forest tonight, Erik ten Hag insists that Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes can continue to share leadership responsibilities at Manchester United.
At the City Ground, Maguire will make his 14th start of the year due to the injuries to Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez. With his return to the starting lineup also comes the armband, since the England international is still the club captain at United.
Only six Premier League games this season have seen Maguire serve as captain; Bruno Fernandes has held the position for the other 22.
When Maguire was away, Fernandes wore the armband when Maguire has been out of the side this season, but Ten Hag insists what is essentially a job share isn't an issue and that both parties know what their role is, The two must respect one another for the situation to work.
Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has stated that he wants to keep Anthony Martial after the current season.
The Frenchman has played just over 850 minutes for the Red Devils this season despite sustaining five different injuries.
Despite this, Ten Hag thinks the 27-year-old is a "great player" because of his achievements, which includes seven goals and three assists.
The United manager told reporters that the forward has the skills to play "top football" and that he makes the team play "better."
He stated to Manutd.com: "Look, it's difficult to say because the history shows different, but I want him to be because he's a great player."
He very certainly has the qualities to play top football. When he’s fit, our team plays better.”
When asked whether Martial will be at the club next season, the Dutchman admitted that he would personally like to keep him.
He added: “From my point of view, yeah.”
