Liverpool had their eyes on an unusual triple attack from Chelsea during the summer transfer window as Financial Fair Play pressured Todd Boehly to generate funds. However, the Blues are ready to turn down major interest in Levi Colwill following his impressive loan spell at Brighton and Hove Albion.
According to the Evening Standard, Liverpool and Manchester City are considering a summer transfer for Colwill.
Chelsea can use the 20-year-old defender to fill FFP demand by selling homegrown talent after spending more than £600m in the last two transfer windows.
And Football.london reports that Colwill is alongside Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher in Liverpool's sights as Jurgen Klopp plans a midfield overhaul at Anfield. However, it is reported that Chelsea have no intention of losing Colwill this summer and will enter contract negotiations to avoid interest from Premier League rivals.
Colwill, being left-footed makes him even more valuable, with two years left on his current contract at Chelsea.
Boehly has previously stressed that he does not want the players to cancel their contracts and be freed.
And he was willing to sell the star reluctantly to make sure the ending didn't happen.
But Chelsea are keen for Colwill to commit his long-term future to Stamford Bridge ahead of a new era under the new head coach next season. Brighton are also said to be interested in signing Colwill permanently after winning the hearts of Seagulls fans this season.
