After two disappointing results in quick succession, Arsenal player Martin Odegaard admitted that "stupid stuff" have started to creep into the Gunners' performances in recent weeks.
Mikel Arteta's team blew a two-goal lead against Liverpool last weekend to draw 2-2, and they did the same against West Ham on Sunday, hurting their position in the competitive Premier League title fight.
Even while Arsenal currently leads Manchester City by four points, the Gunners have played one more game than their rivals and must go to the Etihad to meet Pep Guardiola's hot squad later this month in a matchup that might decide the league's champion.
Odegaard, the captain, expressed his displeasure with recent Arsenal performances after the West Ham match.
The same things from last week, according to Odegaard, who spoke to Sky Sports. "We controlled everything early on and performed incredibly well, and everything went our way. After that, we came to a standstill.
"We provided them just a little portion of the desired game. While they were essentially dead, we offered them hope. We are accountable.
"We allowed them to play long balls, receive several throw-ins and corners, and play to their strengths as we began to do a lot of silly things with the ball.
"We must ensure that this is not an issue. The upcoming game is what matters most."
With a much-anticipated home game at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night against bottom-of-the-table Southampton, Arsenal has the chance to resume winning ways.
City won't play again in the Premier League until the crucial match against the Gunners because they will spend the following weekend competing with Sheffield United for a spot in the FA Cup final. City will travel to Germany on Wednesday for the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal match against Bayern Munich.
