A first-half objective from Iliman Ndiaye gave Sheffield United a vital 1-0 wins at home against Wigan in the Title. The triumph moved the Sharp edges eight goals clear of third-set Luton and nine in front of Middlesbrough, who travel to pioneers Burnley in Great Friday's late game.

Ndiaye's eighth-minute strike settled a game brimming with goalmouth activity at Bramall Path which finished with Wigan actually attached to the lower part of the Title table with only six games remaining to save their season. Edges manager Paul Heckingbottom rolled out two improvements to the group that won 1-0 at Norwich, with Jayden Bogle and Billy Sharp joining the beginning XI.

Wigan director Shaun Maloney made only the one change from the home triumph against QPR, with Thelo Aasgaard coming in for the harmed Danel Sinani. The home side were in charge from the get-go and immediately started to lead the pack. James McAtee ran at the Wigan guard and squared across the container for Ndiaye to tap in at the back post.

Commander Sharp would have made it two on the half volley notwithstanding an incredible point clear save by Ben Amos. McAtee then, at that point, ended up on objective yet Wigan captain Tendayi Darikwa came steaming in without a second to spare and did splendidly to prevent him from pulling the trigger. Ndiaye merited a second after his mazy run yet midfielder James McClean was there to close his work off the line.

In the last part, the Latics almost evened out the scores however Aasgaard's header was met by a top response save from Wes Foderingham. Callum Lang might have improved his header from Max Power's corner and Ashley Fletcher then, at that point, gestured over with a fourth of an hour to play as the away side hoped to heap on the tension.

United attempted to make any obvious possibilities in the second time frame notwithstanding the presentation of top scorer Oliver McBurnie. Individual substitute John Bit hoped to have been pulled down in Wigan's penalty region yet official Andy Davies waved away the cases.

Wigan welcomed on Will Keane and Josh Magennis trying to track down an adjuster in any case they couldn't find one as the Edges returned one more step towards advancement to the Head Association.
