One Manchester United player won't play again this season, according to Erik ten Hag
Manchester United defender Phil Jones is still out of contention to play for the club this season due to his ongoing injury problem. The 31-year-old has played just six Premier League games in the last four seasons and may not feature for the club ever again, as Erik ten Hag has not included him in his plans. The club has been scouting Monaco defender Axel Disasi, which could push Jones further down the pecking order.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Ten Hag is considering including Ivorian winger Amad in Manchester United’s first team next season. The young player could be promoted to the senior team following an impressive season’s loan with Championship side Sunderland. Although Amad was signed by former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2021, he has had just nine first-team appearances and has had to accept loan moves to progress his career.
This season with Sunderland, Amad has shone brightest, scoring 12 goals and providing three assists in 36 matches. He has reminded United’s management of his potential and may get a chance to show his skills in the senior team next season.
Jones, on the other hand, has struggled with injuries and has not played for the club for a while. With the emergence of other defenders, it seems unlikely that he will play a significant role in the future. Disasi is reportedly being scouted by the club and could be a possible replacement for Jones in the future.
Overall, it seems that Manchester United is looking to the future with their focus on bringing in new talent and promoting younger players to the senior team. While some players may not feature due to injury problems, others like Amad could be given a chance to prove themselves at Old Trafford.
