This year, Bentley is commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Continental GT with a slew of events and limited editions. At the Shanghai Auto Show, the company unveiled a one-of-a-kind Continental GT S with Mulliner-designed commemorative badging, inlays, and design motifs that highlight the model's landmark history to kick off the festivities.
The first Mainland GT appeared in 2003, breaking into an underserved market with ravishing, fabulous traveler looks and an exceptionally progressed W12 motor. Throughout recent years, it has figured out how to expand on its solace and physicality with the presentation of the Speed and Mulliner models. The adored W12 is on its way out with the dawn of electrification, but Bentley gives the car and engine the celebration they deserve.
The Shanghai GT S, which doesn't really have a name, has a dark gray metallic paint job over a red and black interior made of Beluga and Hotspur leather with Piano Black accents. Red brake calipers protrude from the rear of the vehicle, which is mounted on 22-inch black chrome wheels. The dual finish that runs across the dashboard is one of the most unique features. The upper elements Rock Stone while the lower is done in Terrific Dark.
To mark the 20th anniversary, numerous placards and laser engravings have been installed. On the mid-control area and on the traveler side scramble, an etching highlighting the outlines of the first and third eras of the GT is in plain view, while on the entryway ledges a notice saying "20 years of the Mainland GT" can be found.
Although we believe a few more commemorative touches could have been added, the overall design gives the vehicle a sporty appearance without being too loud or overdone.
The others will pick up as the year progresses, as this is the first of the celebrations. Two hubs will be built in Crewe, England, and Geneva, Switzerland, where many of the most well-known Continental GTs from its history will be on display and available for driving. This year, Goodwood will host a number of celebrations, including Aston Martin's 110th birthday and the GT and W12's birthdays. It will be a moving car show and the perfect way to say goodbye to the engine, which will stop being made in April 2024.
Last but not least, Bentley will present a final one-of-a-kind Continental GT at Monterey Car Week, which will be inspired by the very first GT to be produced: VIN 20001.
We anticipate that more wealthy individuals will purchase Bentleys, particularly limited edition and bespoke models, as a result of all of these celebrations. We have faith because the company is coming off its highest-ever profit year, and it will take a lot to beat it.
