Nominees for the FIFA 23 Premier League Team of the Season are made public

EA Sports, the game developer behind FIFA 23, has released the nominees for the Premier League Team of the Season. With the 2022/23 season drawing to a close, the list includes 40 top players, among them the Premier League’s current leading scorer, Erling Braut Haaland of Manchester City.

Notably, some key players are missing from the list, including Bruno Fernandes and David De Gea from Manchester United. Fernandes has been a consistent standout player for United, helping the team in their pursuit of a top-four finish after a slow start to the season. 

Meanwhile, despite leading the Golden Glove race with 14 clean sheets, De Gea's exclusion from the TOTS has surprised many.

Ivan Toney, Brentford's prolific striker who has scored 18 goals this season, has also been left out. In contrast, Darwin Nunez, who has had an inconsistent debut season with Liverpool, made the cut. The shortlist has raised questions from fans and experts alike, with some pointing out that certain players seem to have been overlooked despite their impressive performances.

Voting is currently open, and players can select their preferred TOTS XI until Thursday, April 20, at 5 pm GMT. It remains to be seen which players will make the final team, but the anticipation is high as fans eagerly await the announcement of the Premier League's best performing players this season.
