A Chicago man identified as Donte Elbert, who is 36 years old was arrested by the Chicago Illinois police department for robbing the same retail shop 11 times starting from December 2022 to April 2023. The Chicago police in a press statement revealed that Donte Elbert was arrested on West Belmont Avenue.
"He was taken into custody b/c he tried to pass the last point of sale…without paying for merchandise! " a representative for the Chicago Police Department told Fox News Digital”.
The police in their statement further added that the worker at the shop Elbert robbed 11 times had already filed complaints about his previous actions which led to his eventual arrest. Elbert is also alleged to have stolen merchandise from a different store located on the same stretch (3200 block of N. The police have launched an investigation into the matter and as it stands now, Elbert is facing nine felony counts of retail theft of merchandise less than $300, three felony counts of retail theft of more than $300, and one misdemeanor count of criminal trespassing reported by DailyLoud.
