After criticizing PSG's performance, Kylian Mbappe issues a definitive transfer announcement.
Kylian Mbappe has recently been linked with a move away from Paris Saint-Germain, but he appears to have committed his future to the club ahead of next season.
Kylian Mbappe has repeated his goal to win the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain, appearing to pledge his long-term future to the club.
Last May, the striker signed a new three-year contract in Paris, however the last year is an optional renewal on the player's behalf. Despite signing the deal, he has long been linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes, with Real Madrid frequently mentioned.
Mbappe has declined to pledge his future to PSG after rumors of a departure surfaced. "For now, a second World Cup," the France international stated when asked about his rumoured transfer request in November. "After that, I don't know." He didn't return to the subject until March.
There's also the ongoing rumored animosity between the French striker and attacking partner Neymar. The superstar duo clashed previously this season in a Ligue 1 match over the order of penalty takers, and there have been rumors that Mbappe is unhappy at PSG.
Last week, the striker slammed PSG's season ticket renewal campaign, which mainly emphasized his involvement. Mbappe issued a statement on Instagram, writing, "I have just taken part in the viewing of the club's renewal campaign for the 23/24 season."
"I was never informed of the content of my interlocutor's interview." It appeared to be a standard interview during a club marketing day. I disagree with the video that was posted. That is why I fight for the rights to one's own image. PSG is a large club with a large family, but it is not Kylian Saint-Germain. Cordially.”
Mbappe, on the other hand, has underlined his future at the club by stating his goal to win the Champions League with Les Parisiens. Despite the fact that his contract is coming to an end, he has stated that he has no intention of leaving the club this summer.
"Winning the Champions League is the next step," Mbappe told France 3. "I've already made a final, semi-final, quarter-final, round of 16... I've done everything but win. That's all I need. Where do I want to do it? In Paris. I'm a Parisian on contract. So it's PSG."
Despite the controversies around him this season, Mbappe has managed to flourish on the field. The 24-year-old has 31 goals in all competitions and has broken the club's goalscoring record, passing former Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani in the process.
