Liverpool transfer round-up: Ryan Gravenberch is on the way, and Klopp will cut "top" talent

Liverpool's Monday night demolition of Leeds 6-1 at Elland Road was one of the few highlights of their season.

The Reds' season was one to forget. They don't have a major trophy and are now in eighth in the Premier League, nine points behind Newcastle who are in fourth. Manager Jurgen Klopp may therefore decide to overhaul his underperforming team this summer.

Liverpool is anticipated to sign at least one central midfielder and possibly two defenders in the upcoming transfer window. But who specifically is Klopp looking to sign? Here are the most recent Merseyside transfer rumors.

Carvalho set for chop

Klopp will allow Fabio Carvalho to leave Liverpool on loan this summer - despite signing him just a year earlier.

That's according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. The 20-year-old forward was signed from Fulham for an initial £5million last July but has struggled to make an impact on Merseyside. Carvalho has scored just three goals in all competitions this season.

Tellingly, he's played just two minutes of Premier League football since the World Cup in Qatar. It's proving difficult for Carvalho to get a look in, with Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz also on Liverpool's books.

Initially, he was expected to be loaned out but reports suggest Jurgen Klopp’s team is open to the idea of selling him on a permanent basis. The Merseyside club have struggled in the ongoing season because of inconsistent midfield performances.

The German manager is expected to make wholesale changes to the centre of the park ahead of next season. He is likely to offload quite a few players in the summer before pushing to sign multiple world-class midfielders.

And, it seems Carvalho is no longer a part of his plan. As a result, they are willing to sell the 20-year-old prospect just a year after signing him from Fulham.
