The star of Manchester City, Bernardo Silva, has stated that he believes his team will eliminate Real Madrid from the UEFA Champions League.
The English champions advanced to the semifinals for the third straight year after defeating Bayern Munich in the round of eight, tying 1-1 on Wednesday night at the Allianz Arena to secure a 4-1 aggregate triumph.
Awaiting Real Madrid and Man City are playing in a rematch of last year's semifinal. The team led 1-0 going into the second leg in the Santiago Bernabeu and won 4-3 at the Etihad Stadium. The aggregate score was leveled, though, by two goals from Rodrygo in stoppage time, and Karim Benzema's penalty pushed Los Blancos to the championship game against Liverpool.
However, when speaking to BT Sport on Wednesday, Silva was questioned about if his team might extract revenge on Real Madrid, continuing Man City's lengthy run of improbable European defeats.
"I'm hoping yes! We will absolutely try it. We always go for it, but right now we think the team is very, very confident. We probably are going through.
Since losing 1-0 to Tottenham on February 5 in all competitions, Man City has gone undefeated. Silva claimed that the dressing room now exudes confidence as the team has recovered its ruthlessness
."Very assured. We're in a great spot right now, the team's best of the entire season. Because we couldn't go on our regular run of winning 10 or 15 or 20 games straight, we suffered until February, he said.
"Now that the team is fairly consistent, we believe we have a chance to win every match. We intend to pursue that.
Since Man City's 2012 Champions League debut, the two teams have faced each other eight times.
With three victories for each team and two ties, the record is as even as it can be
.Bernardo Silva issues a warning to Real Madrid as retaliation.
