Chelsea conduct discussions with former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino as they continue their manager search

Chelsea are looking for a new manager after sacking Graham Potter; Blues also parted company with Thomas Tuchel earlier this season and are being lead by former boss Frank Lampard on an interim basis until the end of the season; Mauricio Pochettino is available after leaving PSG last year

Chelsea have held initial talks with Mauricio Pochettino over the manager position at Stamford Bridge.

It is understood the former Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham coach is one of five candidates at this stage of the process.

Chelsea have been admirers of Pochettino in the past and enquired about his availability when Thomas Tuchel left the club in September.

According to information provided to Sky Sports News, Pochettino will consider his choices this summer as he gets ready for the appropriate chance. The 51-year-old is currently unemployed after parting ways with PSG in July 2022.

Pochettino has already declined two approaches from Real Madrid and many offers from clubs across a variety of European leagues in recent months.

Given the kind of players Chelsea has brought in, Sky Sports analyst Gary Neville believes Pochettino should be given the opportunity to lead Stamford Bridge on a permanent basis next.

Neville stated on Monday Night Football earlier this month that Chelsea have completed their expenditures for the next three years, with the exception of adding a center forward.

"If they appoint Zinedine Zidane, Luis Enrique or Diego Simeone, they're going to want to have another £300m as they won't like some of the players they've previously signed.

"They've got to appoint a manager who is going to inherit and like the squad that they've got - a lot of them are young - and I think that man is Mauricio

London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham are looking for a new long-term manager, and an in-depth review of statistics suggests that they should give Pochettino top priority.

Since Graham Potter and Antonio Conte were just fired, Frank Lampard will serve as Chelsea's manager through the end of the current campaign, with Cristian Stellini serving in the same capacity at Spurs.

Both teams have been associated with a variety of other managers, but this team's analysis of the data shows that Pochettino is the best choice.

Former Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim manager Julian Nagelsmann met Chelsea officials for the first time last week as the club continued their search for a new manager.

The talks with Nagelsmann are understood to have been positive, though Chelsea will take their time before appointing a permanent successor to Potter, with a decision not expected to be

Julian Nagelsmann was sacked by Bayern Munich and replaced by Thomas Tuchel

Nagelsmann was labelled a 'PR stunt' at the start of his career. The man who turned down Real Madrid before turning 31, is now wanted by Chelsea and Tottenham. Here's the definitive guide to the former Bayern Munich manager...

'Schnapsidee' - a crackpot idea that could only be fuelled by alcohol - screamed a headline in the German publication Frankfurter Rundschau. Their counterparts, Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung, went for the simpler but no less stinging 'PR stunt.'

It was early 2016 and the local press pack weren't pulling any punches when Hoffenheim placed a 28-year-old Julian Nagelsmann in charge of their first team.

When Julian Nagelsmann was hired at Hoffenheim Flick on a few years, it was called a "PR stunt," and the youngest permanent manager in Bundesliga history was turning down Real Madrid before turning 31. He was fired by Bayern Munich in March, which caused friction in the locker room and among club icons. Chelsea and Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing him.

It is only a matter of time and place before Nagelsmann takes over as a manager in the Premier League. His career has been shaped by a personal tragedy that made it simple to silence critics, put football in its proper context, and step back before making important judgments.
