Yesterday, verified checkmarks of all verified account on the micro-blogging platform Twitter was taken down by the Twitter team. This comes after Twitter Blue was introduced, where users will have to pay $12 a month to be subscribed to Twitter Blue for one month. At around 7 pm, most of the legacy verified badges of celebrities like Lebron James, Donald Trump, Sarkodie, Wizkid, Davido, Burnaboy, Akon and all legacy verified accounts lost their badges. This sparked a conversation online as many people deem it as unfair because to them, the legacy verification should still have been there to differentiate them from the people who subscribe to the blue.
While the discussion was going on, Elon Musk the new, the new CEO of Twitter who purchased the app for $44 billion in 2022, revealed that he would be paying $12 a month for a few personalities such as Lebron James, Stephen King, and Just Shatner. His revelation quickly sparked conversations online and a few of them are gathered below;

It is his company he can do what he wants geezers
give the man a break he just shot a rocket off today.
Be happy he gave us our voice back!.
@JenWillPatriot
Ha, I canceled my checkmark. Why should I pay Elon
almost 12 bucks a month to still get warned and
shadow banned for writing what I feel and are my
truths!.
@mrweneafrica
This could be a good feature to be directly
integrated into Twitter Blue. Let's say a person
wants to pay a subscription for the whole family. His
wife and two kids so they don't have to do it.
@TiaMariePruitt8
Can they make themes available for Android
users? I pay $11 a month for Twitter Blue I want to
be able to use themes. When I had My iPhone I
could access themes. But now that I have a
Samsung Galaxy S21 fe 5g I can't. @TwitterBlue
please make themes available for Android.
@Empres...
Says a lot about their character and what they represent! People always reveal themselves. The grass is being cut and you know what happens next.
@SanMateogirl11
I'm thinking I'm paying 11 instead of 8 bc I went
through Apple Pay. $3 extra for the Jobs family-
The price for 1A which Jefferson already took care
of- go figure.
