Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the minister of information, has refuted claims made in a 37-page report on illicit mining that he was involved in a plot to assassinate Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, the former minister for science, environment, technology, and innovation.

According to the study by Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah held a covert meeting of journalists from the NPP and NDC on February 8, 2020, in Dodowa to discuss a plan to assassinate him. This meeting allegedly resulted in subsequent unfavorable media coverage of Mr. Nkrumah.

Oppong Nkrumah, however, has refuted the allegations, claiming that he just attended a PRINPAG (Private Newspaper Publishers Association of Ghana) session on financial reporting that was sponsored in conjunction with the Bank of Ghana and that he never convened any meetings.

"On February 9, 2020, I received an invitation to attend a PRINPAG (Private Newspaper Publishers Association of Ghana) seminar on financial reporting in Dodowa as a guest of honor. This occurrence was widely known. It received extensive promotion on media channels and on my own social media accounts as well. A training was held to teach journalists how to comprehend and thoroughly cover financial issues in Ghana. The struggle against Galamsey had absolutely nothing to do with the occurrence, according to Mr. Oppong Nkrumah's remark.

"As is common with such occasions, I was welcomed by organizers and protocol officials at the arrival ceremony, escorted into the event hall in an open manner, and encouraged to give my speech in an open manner. publicly accompanied for the group photo that followed my speech. My departure from the event and the reporting of my comments were both done in an open manner. At this BOG and PRINPAG session, neither the anti-galamsey battle nor Prof. Boateng were topics for discussion.

"It simply escapes my comprehension how the former Minister transforms this occasion into a secret strategy conference with his ruin as the aim." Reading this assertion from such an otherwise well-regarded individual would shock and sadden the participants from the Bank of Ghana and PRINPAG.

Prof. Frimpong-Boateng personally wrote to the Ghana Police Service in January 2020, informing them of the disappearance of several excavators and requesting an inquiry. Mr. Oppong Nkrumah further noted the reports, interviews, and videos produced by the former minister himself that led to media difficulties on the excavators.

The Information Minister, who had previously held Prof. Frimpong-Boateng in high regard, in disbelief requested him to refrain from becoming involved in his personal disputes and forgive him for his false statements.
