In 1904, a young African boy born Ota Banga was kidnapped from Congo and taken to the United States of America, upon arrival he was put together in a zoo along with monkeys and was displayed together with them for tourists to visit. To make him look just like the monkeys, his teeth were sharpened with a sharp metal object for him to look like a monstrous creature and be able to fit the choice of Halloween guests at the zoo.

He was further transferred to the Bronx Zoo along with the apes, out of frustration and the bad treatment he was getting, he committed suicide to end it all. His story is not quite famous and is mostly neglected in the history of Congo, but the African facts sharing account @Africa_Archives on the micro-blogging platform Twitter decided to share more light on it. Users upon chancing on the post took to the comments section to add their one cent to the sad story of Ota Benga.

A few of the comments gathered are listed below;

@HelloHy.….

“Colonials must stick to imposing their standards

on their people first, and let others develop their way”.

@Hassen]02568439

“Can it be a lesson for African political leaders, fighting for power? Condemning forefathers who defeated the white colony like Ethiopian leaders”.

@PatblakeBlake

“the chimpanzees probably had more empathy than the humans that stole him”.

@n004477

“I can't imagine your pain young man. There has to

be a heaven and hell for though we surely come from the same place we cannot be going to the same place after this”.

@ImtiyazMajid:

“I strongly advocate for South-South cooperation. Latin America, Africa, and Asia should kick the dollar out of business”.

@JEmeodi

“His story is quite disheartening and a reminder of what some humans are capable of. After he was "rescued" from the human zoo, it was still a difficult life for him. He puts up a burning fire at night and dances around it all alone. He became depressed and shot himself with a gun”.

@oscar1716

“no one has ever made an apology, but they will come by saying human rights while they did terrible crimes to our ancestors and they are still doing so”.
