A few days ago, legacy verified accounts on Twitter were stripped of their blue check marks and provided with options of either subscribing to Twitter Blue or remaining unverified. Conversations began going viral as some celebrities vent out their dissatisfaction with the cancellation of legacy blue and replaced it with Twitter Blue. According to them, the selling of the Twitter blue with cost the Twitter team as spam accounts can buy the blue check mark and scam people with it, they further added that the legacy verification was and will ever be the best since one had to go through some crucial times to earn it.
Speaking on the matter, a Twitter user identified with the handle @greg16676935420, added his opinion to the matter, according to him, paying for the $8 for the blue checkmark is not something these celebrities should be bothered about because they sell merchandise, and tickets, books, and others for as high as $100 for their fans and yet they do not complain and buy them, so for him, they should cope and buy it if they want if they don’t they should as well seize the conversation surrounding the blue check mark.
Read his tweet below;
“Interesting how celebrities are ok with us paying 100’s of dollars for their merch, tickets, books, etc, but as soon as they’re asked to pay $11 all heck breaks loose”
His assertions generated a lot of conversations around it and a few of them are highlighted below;

“It's been this way for years, many celebrities don't expect to pay when in restaurants, when buying coffee, visiting clothing stores, etc. Not all of them but many, and it's quite sad”.
@pabloknight
“why are they being called celebrities in the first place they are a nobody like everybody”.
@JulietteMorell3
“It's the "Do you know who I am" syndrome which
is right up there with Savior syndrome/God Complex”.
@BillyM2k
“I can empathize as someone who enjoys receiving money and doesn't enjoy spending money as much but, I can also recognize when I'm being dumb. a good 15% of the time”.
@briocon7
“they're more important than us. It's why they're mad about their free status symbol being taken away. You can tell they're more important by the number of people that follow them”.
@CrazyMadNoob
“look I got the checkmark, does it mean anything? No, it is not a verification it is a subscription, and that is why celebrities don't want to pay because it is NOT a Verification”.
@NSeurel61
“I am surprised that so many celebrities do not agree with the principle, which is fair. I do not have followers and can't care less. I care about interacting with people with no pretense. Also, if I can afford it, 100% of people on Twitter can afford it”.

“It's not about the money, it's about losing their special treatment”.
