Liverpool had to fight hard to defeat relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest, but they eventually came away with all three points.

Liverpool's 3-2 Premier League victory over struggling Nottingham Forest was praised by Jordan Henderson as a "reaction to the setbacks".

On Saturday, despite twice being pushed back by goals from Neco Williams and Morgan Gibbs-White that negated Diogo Jota goals, Jurgen Klopp's team prevailed in a five-goal thriller at Anfield.

The game was resolved by Mohamed Salah's effort in the 70th minute, giving the hosts their second straight victory after they were twice caught off guard by long throw-ins.

Henderson was happy with the character of his teammates even though he acknowledged there was still much space for growth.

The Reds captain told Sky Sports that the team's persistence paid off. "The good thing is we kept going, not once, but twice, and we kept going and to find the winner is definitely a positive," he said.

However, given our previous experience on the field, we shouldn't have been in that situation to begin with.

"We made things harder on ourselves. We could have done a little better on long throw-in defense, and giving up two from them is definitely something we can improve on.

"But generally, I'm happy with how people responded to the setbacks and that the winner was still selected.

We had to be patient with the ball and wait for the correct opportunities since we understood the type of game it would be.

At the same time, Klopp celebrated his 100th league victory at Anfield (in 144 games). Only Bob Paisley (131 games) and Bill Shankly (139 games) have more victories in a single season.

The Reds manager admitted to BBC Sport that his team needs to get better, saying, "We deserve the three points, which is the most important thing. We continuing playing was good.

"We couldn't clear properly in too many instances, but aside from that, I'm really happy with a lot of things," the speaker said.
