Antonio Rudiger explained why he chose Real Madrid when deciding to leave Chelsea last summer.
Rudiger admits he was aware of interest from PSG at the time.
The Germany international recalled: "There were a lot of rumors."
"You know, as soon as there was something with PSG, they sent me a message." But, like I said, that's not what I was looking for. In the end, it has nothing to do with PSG.
"It's a very big club." But next door, Real Madrid, Real Madrid...
"I realized I could go to Real Madrid after lifting the Champions League (with Chelsea in 2021). I knew I could go there. At that moment, I understood. "If you want to be on the winning side, you have to go to Real Madrid."
Former Barcelona forward Luuk de Jong has said that Ousmane Dembele impressed him the most during his brief tenure with the Blaugrana.
De Jong, who joined Barcelona in August 2021 on a season-Long loan from Sevilla, prove to be quite an effective signing, especially towards the second half of the season.
Speaking about his tenure, the current PSV forward, who has scored 14 goals in all competitions this season, revealed that his time in Barcelona was nothing short of a 'dream'.
“I lived my dream there. I had the taste of another culture both on and off the field,” the forward told Dutch news outlet AD.
Adding to his comment, the 32-year-old had a special mention for a certain Ousmane Dembele, about whom he said,
“The player that impressed me the most in Barcelona was Dembele. He knew exactly what to do, when and which passes he had to give to the striker,” he added.
Barcelona may have been on course to win the league this season, having established an 11-point lead, but the fact that it could have been better might still haunt Xavi, especially after his side played consecutive goalless draws against Girona and Getafe.
Speaking about the two games, de Jong revealed that he received several messages from Barcelona fans, asking for him to return.
“Barcelona did not score against Girona and Getafe, and there are messages I receive, “Where are you, Luke? We needed you to win,” he said.
During the course of the 2021/22 season, de Jong scored some vital goals, including a few winners in 1-0 wins towards the second half of the season. But as Barcelona acquired Robert Lewandowski for the subsequent season, they decided not to continue with the Dutch international and after leaving Barcelona, he returned to the Netherlands, joining PSV.
