Elon Musk who acquired the micro-blogging platform Twitter in 2022, who over $44 billion began making some amendments and adding new features to the app to suit his demands, one of the features he added was Twitter Blue This feature allows all users to subscribe at a fee of $8 every month to get verified on the app. Before the introduction of Twitter Blue, there was already a Legacy Blue verification where users did not have to subscribe at a fee but earned it to distinguish themselves from non-verified accounts(particularly available to celebrities and high profiled people).
A few days ago, Elon Musk announced on Twitter that, the Legacy verification check marks will no longer be served hence users who would want to keep their verification would have to subscribe to Twitter Blue, the due date was up and all existing Legacy Blue verification check marks were taken away, this led to a very serious rant on the platform, with users who had the Legacy Blue checkmark criticizing Elon musk fit his decision. Today, most of the Legacy Blue verification users woke up to good news, their certification checks were back and they expressed their excitement through their tweets.
A Nigerian user @Mbahdeyforyou made a tweet that caught the attention of many, the former CEO of twitter Jack Dorsey was a Legacy Blue user, however after Elon canceled the Legacy Blue by taking away all of their check marks, Jack lost it too. Today, most of them are verified again, and although they are now verified as Twitter Blue subscribers they had it for free, Jack Dorseys account is still not verified, giving users the impression Elon might have something against him.
