After matching Robbie Fowler's goal total for the team on Saturday, only five players have scored more goals for Liverpool than Mohamed Salah.
Virgil van Dijk thinks that Mohamed Salah's goal-scoring prowess is undervalued outside of Liverpool.
On Saturday, Salah scored his 183rd goal for Liverpool to secure a 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest. Neco Williams and Morgan Gibbs-White had already scored to offset Diogo Jota's two goals.
With his close-range strike, the Egyptian equaled Robbie Fowler's Liverpool goal total in 71 fewer games, moving him up to joint-sixth place in the club's all-time scoring rankings.
In an unimpressive season for Liverpool, Salah has scored 27 goals in all competitions, and he now has Steven Gerrard's 186 goals for the Reds in his sights.
Upon being questioned about Salah's goal-scoring prowess following Saturday's victory, Van Dijk asserted that non-Red supporters undervalue the forward.
"The majority of the players here have helped their teams win significant trophies. Mo will undoubtedly become legendary. He's such a crucial component," Van Dijk told the media.
"I believe that in the future, the outside world will value what he has accomplished far more.
"For us, we value all he does on a daily basis. We can see how much effort he expends. He only needs to continue.
For the first time since October 2021 (during a run of seven), Salah has now scored in three straight Premier League games. He also scored in a 2-2 draw with Arsenal and then grabbed two goals in a 6-1 thumping of Leeds United.
Only Ollie Watkins (14) and Erling Haaland (13) have scored more Premier League goals since the beginning of the year than he has, with 12 goals scored in total.
Despite winning back-to-back games, Liverpool is still nine points outside the top four, and Van Dijk feels the team's disappointing season has opened his eyes.

"We have a lot of privilege. We are going to one of the biggest clubs in the world to perform there," he remarked. You sometimes have to remind yourself that we're extremely blessed during this time of year.
