After Celta Vigo's triumph, Karim Benzema is getting close to breaking another Real Madrid record

Karim Benzema has been an integral part of Real Madrid's success since joining the club in 2009. He has achieved several individual records, and now he is eyeing another one, the most wins for a single player in club history. Iker Casillas currently holds the record, having played in 463 victories during his career in Madrid. After Real Madrid's recent victory over Celta Vigo, Benzema has moved up to 437 wins, tying with former teammate Sergio Ramos.

To break the record, Benzema needs 27 more wins, which seems achievable as he has extended his stay at Real Madrid until the end of next season. However, his focus right now is on finishing the current season strongly, as Real Madrid aims to secure success in the Champions League and Copa del Rey.

Before the game against Celta Vigo, there were concerns over Benzema's fitness, as he was taken off in the Chelsea second leg due to a knock. However, he played all 90 minutes of the game against Celta Vigo and looked fine physically, despite not performing at his best. This is good news for Real Madrid fans, as they can count on their star striker for the rest of the season.

In the same game, Marco Asensio was given a chance to start in a rotated line-up. He continued his recent scoring run by scoring the opening goal and assisting on the second. Asensio now has eight goals and five assists in LaLiga this season, with a direct goal contribution every 80 minutes, making him the best in the division for players with more than 10 appearances.

For Celta Vigo's Gabri Veiga, it was a big opportunity to showcase his talent in his first game at the Bernabéu. However, he had a difficult game and failed to make an impact in attack, only having a couple of off-target shots. Real Madrid is still keeping an eye on him, as he has a €40m release clause and is considered one to watch for the future.

Overall, Real Madrid's victory over Celta Vigo was an important one, as they continue to chase success in multiple competitions. As Benzema approaches the record for most wins by a single player in club history, he will be hoping to achieve more success for the team, starting with their next game.
