The treble aspirations of Manchester City may be dashed in the process, but Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has promised supporters that his club will "give everything" to defeat them in the FA Cup final.
By defeating Sheffield United in their semifinal match on Saturday, City secured a spot in next month's cup final, with United following a day later after defeating Brighton on penalties.
As a result of Arsenal salvaging a 3-3 draw against Southampton on Friday night, surrendering points for the third straight game, City are also the new favorites in the Premier League title race. If Pep Guardiola's team defeats the struggling Gunners at home on Wednesday night, they would trail by just two points with one game left to play and be in a far stronger position.
Additionally, City has advanced to the semifinals of the Champions League in Europe, which is the trophy they have yet to win. The semi-final they are in, where they will play Real Madrid, is by far the tougher of the two.
Although clubs like Barcelona and Inter have accomplished the feat in their respective countries of Spain and Italy, United is still the only English club to have won the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League in the same year.
Liverpool had the chance to complete an unprecedented quadruple last season, but they were unsuccessful in winning the Premier League and the Champions League.
"We'll give it our all. That is everything I mean when I say everything. stated Ten Hag.
"I recognize the sentiments of the Man United supporters regarding [playing City in the championship game]." We want to give them the victory over City and the trophy for the supporters, and we know we are capable of doing it because we have already shown we can defeat them.
Although [City] is a wonderful team, we also have a great team and players, so it's not simple. We need to play flawlessly, but we defeated them earlier this year.
Ten Hag was alluding to United's 2-1 victory over City at Old Trafford in January, when Jack Grealish's first-half strike was cancelled out by late goals from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.
