Enrique Cerezo wants Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo back in LaLiga because they helped define an era while playing for Barcelona and Real Madrid, respectively.
Enrique Cerezo, the president of Atletico Madrid, wants to witness a LaLiga matchup between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo before both players hang up their boots.
Messi spent 21 years at Barcelona before departing on a free transfer to join Paris Saint-Germain in August 2021. He has been frequently linked with a return to the club.
Prior to playing for Juventus, Manchester United, and currently Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, Ronaldo had nine trophy-filled seasons at Real Madrid.
Although there hasn't been much discussion about Ronaldo returning to Spain's top division, Cerezo thinks it would be in the league's best interest if the two star attackers did.
He made the comment while watching the Barcelona Open tennis final on Sunday. "I think it would be fantastic if Messi returned to the league, just like Cristiano Ronaldo," he added.
Both are still active players, so it would be wonderful to see them back.
Cerezo made this statement prior to Atletico losing 1-0 to Barcelona, which puts Diego Simeone's team 16 points behind the top and five points behind Real Madrid in second place.
Yannick Carrasco contributed fully for Atletico, but the Catalan giants have the option to sign the versatile wide player, so he could end up playing for Barcelona next year.
When asked about the future of Carrasco, Cerezo responded, "Yannick is a very excellent player, fantastic.
"There are those in the world of football who want to do a lot but don't, and others who don't want anything yet succeed. I have no idea what will occur next.
The German coach informed Chelsea officials of this on Friday after participating in a number of meetings held by the Premier League club in an effort to find a permanent head coach, according to AS.
Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique both want to manage in the Premier League, but the situation at Chelsea, who won't participate in Europe next season, won't persuade everyone due to the risks involved.
