Newcastle want four 'main' signings this summer, including Barcelona forward Raphinha

Newcastle are poised to go all out this summer, with reports suggesting the Premier League side will try to land four 'elite' signings, including Barcelona forward Raphinha.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Eddie Howe's team was preparing to recruit foreign players and people with a long history in the Premier League.

According to the Telegraph, Newcastle are said to be tracking Moises Caicedo, James Maddison, Kalvin Phillips, Declan Rice, Conor Gallagher, Kaoru Mitoma, Jarrod Bowen and Ivan Toney.

Arsenal full-back Kieran Tierney is also mentioned in the report along with Scott McTominay and Harvey Barnes, who are currently engaged in the relegation battle with Leicester City.

For those arriving from abroad, the Warblers have a 'definite' interest in some of Europe's best players including Gabri Veiga, Moussa Diaby, Marcus Thuram and duo Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia of Naples. And another name that emerged on Monday is Barcelona forward Raphinha.

Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo suggests that Newcastle will try to 'take advantage of' Barca's financial situation with an offer for the Brazilian, who joined the Camp Nou last July.

The top four Premier League prospects were keen to bring Raphinha to St James' Park last summer before Barcelona agreed a £55m deal.

Raphinha, meanwhile, is said to be frustrated with Xavi's decision to have him play on the left wing instead of his preferred right wing.

But despite speculation surrounding the Brazilian's future with the La Liga leaders, coach Xavi declared Raphinha the 'future of Barcelona' earlier this year.

"He's a criticized player, but he's accomplished a lot and we appreciate him a lot," he said. “We will always support Raphinha - he is the future of Barcelona.

The 26-year-old, who featured with Brazil at last winter's World Cup in Qatar, has scored 11 goals in 51 appearances for club and country this season.

What are your thoughts on Newcastle targeting Raphinha as one of their so-called 'elite' signings? Would it be a good addition?
