Reports have claimed that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly was in direct contact with Mason Mount over the weekend.
According to The Athletic, the owner took the opportunity to remind the 24-year-old that he is an important part of their squad, as negotiations over his new contract continue.
In recent weeks, there has been real fear that Mount is about to leave the club where he has spent years developing his skills.
Although almost unstoppable in recent years, the Blues player has had a rough season in terms of form and injury.
It looks like his career is about to rebound as being acknowledged as an avid Frank Lampard fan takes over the club on an interim basis. However, he has yet to start any of the four games Chelsea have played (and lost) in all competitions since returning to a second term.
It looks like he is starting to come out of a nagging injury that has sidelined him so much lately, as he has come on from the bench in recent weeks.
With the Blues' season almost over, Mount could be part of a more suitable test squad for next season.

It will only happen if it looks like he will stay with the club, and there is currently no guarantee that will happen.
However, it is reported that the contact between Boehly and the player is seen as a positive sign as the story goes on. Losing Mount would certainly see the Blues cementing a direct rival, with Liverpool being one of the parties believed to be interested in a deal to sign the England international.
