Raphael Varane has been injured for the past three games that Manchester United has played, but he should be back before the FA Cup final on June 3.
Raphael Varane should be ready to play in Manchester United's FA Cup final match against cross-town rivals Manchester City, according to Erik ten Hag.
Varane was taken out at halftime of United's Europa League quarterfinal match against Sevilla after suffering an ankle injury in the first leg, which the Red Devils lost 5-2 on aggregate.
Ten Hag has recently had to utilize an improvised backline due to the season-ending metatarsal fracture that Varane's central defensive partner Lisandro Martinez sustained in the same game.
Due to the suspension of club captain Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw combined with Victor Lindelof in the center of defense as United defeated Brighton and Hove Albion on penalties to advance to their record-tying 21st FA Cup final on Sunday.
The Wembley Stadium final between United and City, who are vying for a treble, will now take place on June 3. The Red Devils are hoping Varane will be available.
Ten Hag responded to talkSPORT's question about Varane's potential participation in United's second domestic cup final of the year: "I think so, definitely. Varane may return for the cup final.
Varane has made a total of 27 starts for United this season despite missing the 2017 World Cup due to ankle and leg injuries.
In Varane's absence, United has performed admirably, winning 20 of their 25 games in all competitions (L5) as opposed to 16 of their 27 games when the Frenchman started (D7 L4).
"As players, we can never take anything for granted," he remarked. "With this boss, you have to give it your all every day in training and wherever else because he has high expectations.
"If you don't meet them, you can't play, regardless of the situation - whether there are injuries or bans.
So I don't take it for granted for myself. However, the last stretch of the season is the most crucial because that's when things are won. Since we want to take home this trophy, we must give it all.
