According to 90min, Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino are getting closer to signing a contract to bring him on as their new manager.
In an effort to identify a long-term replacement for Graham Potter after Julian Nagelsmann decided to withdraw from the proceedings, Chelsea has set up another round of negotiations with the former Tottenham manager.
Although a contract has not been reached and there is still more work to be done, sources have already stated that Chelsea is moving closer to employing Pochettino.
Importantly, Pochettino has expressed a sincere desire to fill the vacancy at Stamford Bridge, and conversations with the Blues administration have created the sense that he has a sincere strategy for the team as it stands.
Pochettino reportedly believes Chelsea are only a few signings away from challenging for Premier League supremacy once more. The manager is probably looking for a new striker, and Chelsea has been trying to get Victor Osimhen from Napoli for a while.
Pochettino's initial approach was rejected earlier this season because the Argentine is thought to have had concerns about the setup at Stamford Bridge, but since Chelsea's backroom staff has grown in experience, Pochettino is thought to have more faith in the project being offered.
The board and Chelsea supporters do not anticipate that the manager's connections to Tottenham will be an issue.
Pochettino is becoming the front-runner to take over at Stamford Bridge, although Chelsea is still researching possible alternatives in case negotiations with Pochettino fall through.
The likes of Napoli's Luciano Spalletti, Sporting CP's Ruben Amorim, and Burnley's Vincent Kompany are among those who have admirers at Chelsea, but the Blues seem to be concentrating on Pochettino in their quest to put an end to the uncertainty in the dugout.
