According to reports, Chelsea is getting ready to sabotage Manchester United's attempt to sign Goncalo Ramos, a star player for Benfica. The striker's achievements in Portugal and at the World Cup have made him one of Europe's most promising attackers.
The 21-year-old has made 37 appearances for Benfica this season, scoring an astounding 25 goals and providing 10 assists. Since making his debut in November, he has also scored four goals for the Portugal national team, including a hat-trick at the World Cup in Qatar.
Ramos' track record of scoring goals has drawn interest from a number of elite Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Man United, Liverpool, and Arsenal. Todd Boehly is now anticipated to act independently, though.
According to Portuguese newspaper Record (via Sport Witness), the Blues will send scouts to watch Ramos in action in this evening's Liga NOS clash with FC Porto, with it even the 'possibility' of Boehly attending the fixture to catch a closer glimpse of the prodigy himself.
Like Chelsea, Man United is in desperate need of a new striker. Due to the Glazers' budgetary constraints, Erik ten Hag has been forced to make do with Wout Weghortst, although the Burnley-loanee has only produced two goals since joining.
Following the signing of Enzo Fernandez in January, the American millionaire has recently been associated with Benfica. Prior to the transfer window, Chelsea expressed interest in the Argentine and didn't give up on trying to sign the World Cup champion to Stamford Bridge.
After being eventually acquired for a club-record transfer fee of £106 million, Fernandez has been among the team's best players ever. The earlier agreement will probably have some bearing on Ramos' future actions.
