Barcelona are tracking 20-year-old defender, have 'excellent' reports on the player
Barcelona is continually looking for young players with exceptional potential after recent success with the acquisitions of players like Pedri and Ronald Araujo.
They were able to sign Pablo Torre last summer before Real Madrid, thanks to this. And as the summer approaches, they are still associated with a number of up-and-coming performers, including Fabricio Diaz and Vitor Roque.
Currently, SPORT is stating that Barcelona are keeping an eye on 20-year-old center-back Abakar Sylla, who competes for Club Brugge in Belgium.
Sylla entered Brugge's youth program in the summer of 2021, and at the beginning of the current season, he or she was formally promoted to the senior squad. The 20-year-old has since participated in 24 games in all competitions and has even scored a goal.
Sylla, a left-footed center-back, has consistently displayed high standards of play, particularly in the UEFA Champions League, which has reportedly attracted Barcelona's attention.
The teenage Ivory Coast international is reportedly being monitored by the Blaugrana, who have heard "excellent" reports about him thus far.
Barça likes him, but they are unable to make a summer transfer bid for him due to financial constraints. Inigo Martinez, a left-footed center-half, is reportedly already on a two-year deal with the Blaugrana, filling the empty position.
As it is, Spotify Camp Nou appears to provide a complete coverage of the center-back position. However, the article also states that Barcelona will keep an eye on Sylla since they are confident in his potential to develop into a great defender.
There is a possibility that the 20-year-old could leave Brugge this summer itself, with clubs in the Premier League interested. But if he does not, Barcelona could revisit their interest in him at some point in the future but not this summer.
barcelona will be keeping tabs on the young defenders performance.
