The family of Victor Nasana Kungmaa, a young man who was shot and killed by two unidentified attackers who are thought to have crossed the border from Burkina Faso, has called on the Lawra Municipality police and security services to discover the offenders so they may be brought to justice.
According to the family, Victor would receive justice, and young people living in the border town who engage in cross-border commerce would be guaranteed safety and protection.
The family claims that three days after the 22-year-old guy was assassinated, another young man in a nearby community was similarly murdered.
Given the information they possessed, the family thought the same individuals were responsible for the conduct. and declared their readiness to provide information to the police.
Albert Kungmaa Ziem, Kungmaa's father, told the Daily Graphic that the incident had left the neighborhood in a state of uneasiness.
Incident
A business acquaintance in Burkina Faso called Kungmaa on Sunday, April 16, 2023, asking him to come to the river bank to collect money owed to him. Kungmaa lived in Brifoh-Cha, close to Babile, and traded cattle, sheep, and other livestock between Burkina Faso and Techiman, according to Mr. Ziem, who is telling the story.
He said that Kungmaa traveled to Bor-Nakong in the Burkinabe district of Jabugu with two brothers in order to get the funds.
Kungmaa and his Burkinabe trade opponent were having a conversation when a dispute broke out. Before they knew what had happened, the latter shot the victim in the chest and then hopped on the back of a motorcycle and fled with the rider.
Kungmaa was brought to the Babile Polyclinic, where doctors declared him dead.
"We want justice for Victor, but not only for him, since another young guy died in a neighboring community under identical circumstances three days after he was shot.
The phone number used to call Victor was the same as the one used to call the other victim, as we discovered.
"It was the same strategy, and we assume the attacker owed them money from a business deal, but instead of paying him, he chose to murder them instead, expecting to avoid being discovered."
Mr. Ziem stated, "We are ready to support the police in their inquiries."
