A year ago
Ernest Yaw Anim, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) chosen candidate for the Ashanti Region's Kumawu by-election, has urged party members to put aside their differences and work together to secure the seat for the party.
He asserted that the party should use his triumph as a springboard to heal divisions among the rank and file.
Last Sunday (April 23), Mr. Anim, a 38-year-old chartered accountant, won the NPP primary to choose a candidate to run on the party's ticket for the Kumawu Constituency.
He urged the party's many factions to work together for the next war.
Primary
In comparison to his lone female opponent, Obaapa Ama Serwah, who received 181 votes, Mr. Anim received 195 votes.
Dr. Aboagye Dacosta received 27 votes, followed by Kwame Appiah Kubi with 10 and Osei-Hweree Kwame Bempah with just 5 votes.
A total of 419 delegates cast ballots, one of which was invalid.
The election was held in a calm setting without any uncertainty or unrest.
At the Besoro Community Center, which served as the primary election's voting location, there was also a significant security presence.

The top tiers of the party structure were also present to oversee events at the facility.

At Vanguard Properties Development in Ghana, Mr. Anim worked as a senior accountant. He had a number of jobs at Vanguard, including Financial Controller, where he oversaw four distinct projects with an annual budget of more than $4 million.Additionally, he made sure that all legal requirements, business regulations, and tax laws were followed.
He worked as an account officer for the Millennium Development Authority of Ghana before joining Vanguard.He has also served as Nobisfields' Assistant Manager of Tax Services.
Mr. Anim has a Master of Financial Economics from Ohio University, a Professional Certificate in Accounting from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Cape Coast. He also worked as a graduate assistant in the economics department at Ohio University.
He belongs to the ACCA.
Mr. Anim is a committed member, supporter, and donor of the NPP on the party front, particularly at the constituency level. Over the years, he has contributed to the expansion of the party's fortunes at the local level.
Since 2012, Mr. Anim has been a dedicated and charitable supporter of the NPP. Among his contributions to the party during the 2020 elections were the donation of 1,000 party-branded t-shirts for the Kumawu constituency campaign and the sponsorship of health screenings for residents of the Bodomase township.
