In 2005, a South African man identified as Marius Els adopted a baby hippo after he rescued it from a river, in a video going viral, Marius was seen playing with his new pet he nicknamed it Humphrey, six years down the line, Humprey the pet dragged him to the same river he rescued it from and mauled him till he passed out. Marius was said to have rescued Humprey at age five months and built an artificial lake for it. He admitted that he developed a special fondness for the animal but his friends never wanted to go near it since it was a wild animal. The conversations are fast gaining attention with people sharing various opinions.
According to most online users, Marius made a big mistake by adopting a hippo which is a wild animal, a few of the comments shared by users are gathered below; dont forget to add yours to keep the discussion going.

Causing an estimated 500 deaths annually (as compared to only 22 for lions), hippos are deadly
land mammals. This is because they are very aggressive and territorial, and have a habit of
charging at boats and capsizing them.

Don't mess with wild animals and don't disturb
them. Humans have done so much horror that
nothing could ever make up for it. I like when
animals win.

Ppl just can't seem to get the difference between
wild & domesticated. A wild animal may be
"tamed" but it will NEVER be domesticated, which
takes generations of breeding for specific traits. A
wild animal will almost always revert to instinctive
behaviors they need in the wild.

My father had a Doberman when I was growing
up, truth be told he probably loved that dog more
than me. But I remember him telling me, you never
own a dog that you can't kill with your bare
hands, because he understood that in the end, it's
an animal. So watching this I ask, wtf?.
