Arsenal 'set to lose star for FREE' with AC Milan 'monitoring' the situation

There is a young Arsenal player whose contract is yet to be renewed, and he may leave the club for free at the end of the season. AC Milan is reportedly interested in signing him. The player has struggled with injuries and has found it difficult to displace star forwards Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, and Leandro Trossard. Despite this, he scored a last-minute winner against Bournemouth and twice against Nottingham Forest earlier in the season. Arsenal wants to keep him, but doubts remain over his future.

AC Milan, currently fourth in Serie A, is reportedly interested in signing Reiss Nelson from Arsenal at the end of the current campaign. Milan is in the middle of a fight to secure Champions League football and is prioritizing a replacement up front, as Divock Origi has only scored twice in the league, and Olivier Giroud and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are in the twilight of their careers. However, with the futures of Rafael Leao, Charles de Ketelaere, and Ante Rebic still unclear, there could be a move in wider areas in the offing this summer.

Nelson has long been touted as a player at Arsenal capable of developing into a top star, but his progression has been hampered by competition in recent years. The emergence of Saka as one of the country's leading talents has left him without a single start in the Premier League since December 2019, with six substitute appearances this term. He has had two loan spells away from the club, playing at Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga and spending last season with Feyenoord before returning to his boyhood side.

Despite struggling for game time, Nelson has managed to rack up three goals and as many assists in 13 appearances in all competitions. Brighton is also reportedly interested in taking the 23-year-old to the South Coast. The Gunners are keen on extending his stay at the Emirates, and although an extension has been offered, doubts remain over his future.

Milan's interest in Nelson comes at a time when the club is looking to bolster its attacking options ahead of next season. The Rossoneri have been linked with several players in recent weeks, including Tammy Abraham of Chelsea, but the club's priority remains finding a replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is now 41 years old. If Milan is successful in their pursuit of Nelson, it could provide the young Englishman with the opportunity to showcase his talents in one of Europe's top leagues and could also give Arsenal the chance to earn some much-needed cash for a player who may leave for free.
