After Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford scored penalties against Brighton in Man Utd's victory in the semi-final penalty shootout at Wembley Stadium, Erik ten Hag showered them with adulation.
Before United's Premier League match against Tottenham, reporter Ten Hag was questioned on Sancho's decision to step up and take a penalty despite having a challenging 2022–23 season thus far:
"I believe Jadon has put on several very strong performances this season. He will undoubtedly be strengthened even more by that event on Sunday, which will also, as you say, give him more courage and faith.
In the shootout, Sancho, who has had a difficult season at Old Trafford, went up to take the third penalty and easily scored. After the World Cup, the forward missed a significant amount of time owing to an unidentified ailment, but he has shown improvement in recent weeks since rejoining the senior group.
In the notorious shootout loss by Italy to England in the Euro 2020 championship, Sancho and Rashford both conspicuously missed penalties.
"I believe that it deserves praise and recognition for stepping up on Sunday, especially because the penalty was so well-taken. The same can be said for Rashy [Marcus Rashford] since it was so convincing.
"I believe they have moved past the trauma, which is excellent since it demonstrates their character and personality. That may be useful because you frequently inquire about recovering in games; similarly, you should demonstrate your personality when things are not going your way. Make careful to do the opposite.
On June 3, the FA Cup final between United and Manchester City will take place at Wembley Stadium.
90min has been informed by sources with knowledge of the matter that Sheikh Jassim is dedicated to a "full takeover" of the club. They are "as confident as they can be" that their campaign will be successful because they seek a total break from the present Glazer administration.
