Trent Alexander-Arnold's performance for Liverpool during their comeback victory over West Ham United at London Stadium has been praised by Jurgen Klopp.
The England international continued to play on Wednesday night in his new inverted full-back position, frequently sliding into a deep-lying playmaker position (I've obviously played Football Manager before) to direct the Reds' assaults.
TAA was able to pick up an assist from this position for Cody Gakpo's first-half goal, and Klopp's tactical choice would turn out to be a masterstroke as the Reds went on to win the game thanks to a Joel Matip header just before the hour mark.
The Liverpool boss was eager to give Alexander-Arnold special appreciation in a post-game interview with BT Sport, saying: "The stuff Trent [Alexander-Arnold] played - wow.
"It was completely crazy,"
Klopp emphasized that his team is not competing for UEFA Champions League qualification, despite the fact that the victory moved them closer to the top four by six points.
At the news conference following the game, he stated: "I can't see the race yet, I can't. We are not in a position to have a race, which is why. Therefore, winning football games is the only thing we can do.
"Since we don't play them, it's not in our hands if it puts pressure on other teams. The only other game we have against clubs above us is against Tottenham, I believe. That will be it for us if they win every game. But I don't give that any thought. I want us to have the best possible season's finale.
"I hope to learn something from this season for the following one. Great if it's European competition. If not, we must also accept it and go forward. I currently desire that.
