According to 90min, AC Milan is eager to capture Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek this summer.
The 27-year-old, who signed with Chelsea 19 years ago, has spent the last few seasons as a benchwarmer and is currently in the final 18 months of his deal at Stamford Bridge.
Due to Chelsea's new policy, which attempts to prevent players from signing contracts that expire in the next two years, players with expiring contracts may be sold for the proper price, and Loftus-Cheek is one of such players with a bleak future.
According to sources who spoke to 90min, Loftus-Cheek has drawn a lot of interest from Serie A, where Lazio and Napoli are well-known fans. However, Milan are suddenly emerging as serious contenders to recruit the midfielder.
When questioned by his club, former Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori, who went through the same academy as Loftus-Cheek before transferring to Milan, is said to have offered the midfielder a glowing recommendation.
While Crystal Palace, Fulham, Leicester, Newcastle, West Ham, and Wolves are all interested in Loftus-Cheek, he may prioritize a move to Serie A above staying in the Premier League. Loftus-Cheek is intrigued by the thought of transferring to Milan.
Chelsea is open to offers and eager to take advantage of Milan's interest in a number of players at Stamford Bridge because they must sell players this summer. Milan is also interested in Kalidou Koulibaly, Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Importantly, Chelsea's pursuit of Rafael Leao, a 23-year-old attacker who is also in the final 18 months of his contract but is in negotiations for an extension, is not now connected to Milan's interest in Loftus-Cheek and the other players.
Even if Leao signs a new contract with Milan, Chelsea will still be interested in signing him, according to insiders, and the Blues are expected to look into a deal that might involve sending a number of players to San Siro in exchange.
