Barcelona duo named among top 10 most promising youngsters by CIES .
Barcelona's young midfielder Gavi ,has been named the most promising youngster in football by the CIES Football Observatory, which released a list of 200 U20 players in 75 leagues around the world. The ranking was established according to the experience capital method, taking into account the minutes played in official games during the last 365 days, the sporting level of the matches and the results. Interestingly, Gavi's metric score was considerably ahead of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, who came in second place.
The top five spots in the list are occupied by Gavi, Marcos Leonardo of Santos, Antonio Silva of Benfica, and Barcelona target Vitor Roque. Barcelona have two representatives in the top 10 list, with young left-back Alejandro Balde at sixth place. Other players in the top 10 list include AZ’s Milos Kerkez, Real Madrid’s Endrick Felipe, Santos’ Angelo Gabriel, and Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko.
Gavi's inclusion and his place at the top is not a surprise, given his useful contributions to Barcelona this season, especially in the second half. The 18-year-old midfielder has been used across many positions and has stepped up when the likes of Frenkie de Jong and Pedri were unavailable due to injuries. He has clocked a total of 2,139 minutes in La Liga alone this season, scoring a goal and providing three assists.
Interestingly, the list includes a couple of players who Barcelona are either pursuing or have shown interest in the past. Vitor Roque, who came in fourth place, is one of Barcelona's targets, while Moukoko, who came in tenth, is a player the club has shown interest in previously.These young gems have basically become the back bone of the whole Barcelona team putting in wonderful performances week in and week out solidifying thier spot in the team.
