To prevent their season from further destabilizing, the chairman spoke with the striker and other key players.

Harry Kane has disclosed that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and he had crucial discussions on Monday about the likelihood of the team placing eighth or ninth after he acknowledged that the Newcastle outcome had been building since last month.

After Spurs' 6-1 drubbing at St. James' Park on Sunday, Levy fired Cristian Stellini and conferred with the team's player committee, which is thought to include captain Hugo Lloris, Eric Dier, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Kane.

Stellini had only served as the interim head coach for four games when he took over for Antonio Conte, who quit a week after making controversial post-match remarks at Southampton in which he criticized his own "selfish players" for not wanting to perform under pressure.

Kane first alluded to the effect Conte's words had on the team after Thursday's hard-fought 2-2 draw against Manchester United at home.

The meeting was requested by the chairman. Naturally, I won't repeat what was said, but I believe it was crucial for him to comprehend the players' mental states at the time, Kane added.

"Clearly coming off of that (Newcastle) defeat, but it wasn't just that result; it had been building up since the international break when we gave up the two goals against Southampton.

It was an open discussion about everyone's current situation and what we should do to improve our chances of finishing the season on a positive note.

"We're still in the race for fourth, but if it doesn't happen, we'll strive to position as high as we can, like fifth or sixth.

If you're not careful, you may easily finish eighth or ninth in this league because of how competitive it is. That's what it was intended to do, and I'm delighted we responded in that way.

When Marcus Rashford added to Jadon Sancho's early goal to make it 2-0 to United at the half, the atmosphere had threatened to turn toxic. Kane and the rest of his teammates were cheered off the field at the conclusion of the game on Thursday night.
