The 23-year-old international from Sweden is quickly establishing himself on Tyneside.
Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle, is optimistic about his team's "Thierry Henry" after watching record-breaking recruit Alexander Isak dominate the Premier League.
After a four-month injury layoff, the Ł60 million summer signing for the Magpies has been on fire, bringing his season total to 10 goals as he competes with Callum Wilson for the starting spot.
The mercurial Frenchman, though, was compared to a magnificent assist in Thursday night's 4-1 victory at Everton, when he scooped up the ball on halfway and went past three players on a mesmerizing move before crossing for Jacob Murphy to tap in at the far post.
When asked if he saw the similarities, head coach Howe responded, "Yes, I can; I see the similarities there.
"Everyone is different; no two players are same, but I do believe he shares some of Thierry's qualities.
He has a comparable build and frame and is undoubtedly fast. He really had some amazing footwork on the assist, and I think he has a lot of room to grow and get better.
"But for him here, it's been a great start,"
When Newcastle decided to spend so much money to wrest the now 23-year-old away from Real Sociedad in their need for more firepower, eyebrows were raised, but their faith has been amply repaid.
Isak made a sensational debut goal for Liverpool in August, but after just three club games, he suffered a thigh muscle injury while representing Sweden at an international level, which kept him out until January.
He has scored four goals in his previous five games, but despite coming off the bench at Goodison Park as Howe rotated his in-form frontmen, his strong run of form has been crucial to the Magpies' rise into Champions League contention.
I don't think you ever know with perfect surety," he responded when asked if Isak has turned out to be an even greater player than he had thought.
"Anyone who says that would be lying because I don't think you ever know what a player's genuine capability is unless you work with them closely and you see them every day.
